More News And Big Lots Finds

APP ~Tammy

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Thank you so much for stopping by and spending a little of your day with me.

As I was saying in my previous post, so many things going on in my life right now and so many changes.

It is exhilarating  and exhausting all at the same time!

Kortney got her first job.

She took a part time job at the bank with Kelsey.

Through the Summer she will be working more hours but once college starts up she will only be working a 4 hours a day.

Which is more than enough with being a full time student.

She likes the idea of having her own money, but she sure has been worn out lately.

Mitchell is taking a Coal Mining course at the local college.

I am not sure how I feel about him being a coal miner because it is a dangerous job, but like I told him,

“Coal Mining is in your blood.”

Both Brett and I had  Great-Grandpa’s, Grandpa’s, and Fathers that were Coal Miners.

Not to mention our Uncles and even Brett’s Mom was one.

So yes, it definitely is in Mitch’s blood-line.

Brett did a Summer internship at the mines when he was in college and hated it.

But I told Mitchell, you might not.  You might love it.

“If you want to do it, Go For It.  You will never know until you try.”

I have opened an antique booth at a New local Antique Mall.

Carterville, Illinois 62918

It is located on the Herrin-Colp road.

Past the Herrin Elementary.

On the corner as you turn toward Colp.

*The old feed store building.

If you are in the area be sure to pop in.

It is a Very Nice Place.

Clean, Bright, Organized and Spacious!

One of the nicest antique malls around.

I am Booth 12.

APP ~Tammy

If interested, I believe there are some booth still available.

Very Reasonable monthly rent!

Half of what I was paying at the previous place, for the same size booth.

With working on trying to clear out the house, I am planning on opening another booth soon.

Maybe somewhere different to spread out.

I am thinking St. Mary’s MO., but I cant decide if I want to drive that far.

The one above is less than 5 minutes from my house, I love that.

Did you notice the header photo?

The adorable canisters and pitcher can be found at Big Lots!

$7 each.

APP ~Tammy

The metal basket came from there also.

I believe it was $6.00.

I love the fact that the enamel was made to look old with little worn spots here and there.

I have these in the corner on my kitchen cabinets.

They aren't very tall so I sat them on top an old wooden box.

Recently I found these flower frogs at a local antique mall.

APP ~Tammy

Not really sure what I am going to do with them yet but for the price, they had to come home with me.

I have done a little changing to the dining room.

I took the folk art print wallpaper down off of one wall and replaced it with the bead board wall paper.

Then I painted it the same shade as the wall.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I like it.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I thought about doing the same to the wall with the window, but with the house situation I don't think I’m going to start it.

Plus it took Forever to get the previous wall paper off.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

What house situation??

Well, we might have it sold.

The lady really wants it, she is just trying to work out the financial stuff with the bank.

We’ll see, I guess.

Right now, I’m all for living one day at time and letting tomorrow take care of itself!

I guess that is all from me, for now.

Thanks again for stopping by and visiting with me.

Have a wonderful and peaceful weekend.

Life Is A Highway…

And The Days Go Zoom Zooming By!!!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

WOW! I cant believe it has been over three weeks since my last post.

So much going on in my life right now, so many changes.

I swear I don’t know where the days go and lately I seem to have very little, to no, free time.

Let’s see, where to start…

Well, I guess the biggest changes are that Hubby and I aren't driving any more.

WooHoo!

I hated that job!

Well, it wasn't too bad on nice weather days and with the other company’s we drove for, But…

About a month or so ago the pharmacy we drove for, signed with a new delivery company, let me tell you, and this is No Joke.

The new company was the most Unprofessional, Dishonest place I have ever worked for!!

Ever!

Any who, Hubby and I are now done.

And for the first time in 26 years, Hubby is only working One Job!

LOVE IT!!

Now you have to understand who Hubs is, well, the truth is, He’s a workaholic!

No kidding, he would never ever admit it, but truth is truth and he is.

He cant stand just doing nothing, which was okay when we were in our 20’s even 30’s, but now were are getting close to our mid-40’s and I am, and have been for awhile, so ready for him to go to one job, come home and just hang out.

Plus we have our grandbaby coming in December, I don't want him to miss out on enjoying the wee-one.

No more coming home from one job and going to another!

Yipee!

Speaking of my Grandbaby, I went with Kelsey a few days ago to her Dr. apt. and got to hear the baby’s heart beat for the 1st time.

Yes, I admit it, my eyes did tear up.

I already love this little one so much.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I had my yard sale and it went over really well.

Felt good to purge so many things, plus it gave me some spending money for our weekend get-away.

I am making progress on trying to clear out the house somewhat.

I had a slight backslide when we went to the Gypsy Caravan in St. Louis a couple of weeks ago.

Hubby and I went up to St. Louis on Sunday Morning and hit some stores near the city.

We stayed the night and met Mom, Dad and Kortney and headed into the Gypsy Caravan Monday to meet up with my Sister and family.

It is an annual thing we have been doing for years.

We had a good time, but it seemed more crowded this year for some reason.

Maybe I was just tired from the busy day before, who knows.

I really didn't buy much at the actual Caravan, just a few items.

I did most my buying the day before.

Above are some of my new finds.

Above: I purchased the measuring spoons and the huge jar at World Market.

This was our first time there (WM) and we went a little Nuts.

Brett loved the store as much as I did, so that always makes shopping more enjoyable.

*I think I’m getting a little ahead of myself.

First

Here are photos of some of the goodies I came home with, just stacked on the counter before I decided where they should go.

Items found at The Gypsy Caravan, Goodwill, The World Market, The Old Time Pottery Shop, and Target.

Now back to what can be found at the World Market…

Found this awesome blue jar there. ($19.99)

It is a drink dispenser, but I have it turned around for the display.

It is sitting on top of my fridge with this wonderful batter bowl I found at The Olde Time Pottery shop. ($7)

These blue towels came from World Market. (I cant remember the price, I think around $3)

They are hanging from my stove and in the below photos you can see the big white bowl ($4) found at OTPS and the giant vintage shoo fly cover ($8) one of my few purchases from the GC.

I love this old ironstone bowl that I bought at the Caravan.

On the top shelf, RHS, is an old blue jar purchased from the GC ($5) and a small repro jar from WM ($1.50).

Next to them are two adorable white ceramic bowls with blue dots, found at Target in there Dollar Section.

Oh, did you notice the shutter shelf above the cabinet??

* I know, I’m jumping all over the place in this post!!

Bare with me.

I wanted to share this before I forget, a simple little shelf I made from one of the shutters I won from Sherry @ Thrift My House.

Now, I didn't go elaborate on it at all.

All I did was attach a small board to the bottom.

APP ~Tammy

Painted it all in a white paint and drilled two holes in the corners for hanging.

Poof, little what-not shelf.

APP ~Tammy

Soon I will share the little table bench I made from the other shutter.

Thank you again, Sherry for the fabulous blog win!

Below is one of my favorite finds.

It did come from the Gypsy Caravan…

APP ~Tammy

I love this old child's high chair with its worn and chippy mustard yellow paint.

And Hubby just LOVED carrying it around all day! :)

APP ~Tammy

My last purchase from the Gypsy Caravan was a vintage wood shutter.

Now, I admit it…

I didn't think it out too much before hanging.

APP ~Tammy

I decided to hang it above my fireplace.

Which I thought looked okay, until Hubby pointed out that it looks like a giant vent up there.

APP ~Tammy

Oh, Shoot!  I hate it when he’s right.

:0

Now I have to take it down and find somewhere else to put it.

APP ~Tammy

~ I do have so much more to share about what all has been going on around here, but it is going to have to wait until my next post.

This one is getting a lot longer than I expected.

I will be back soon with more News and More Inexpensive Goodies you can find near you!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Hugs,

Tammy

Homemade Wall Chalk Board

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Well, yesterday Hubby and I were able to finish up a project I had been working on in the mud room.

I have this one odd wall in there.  It is the wall right out side the half bath that leads into the breakfast nook.

Because of its size and location I could never find anything to display there, that I liked.

Then I came up with the idea of making a chalk board, thanks to the inspiration of fellow bloggers and Pinterest.

Chalk boards seem to be all the craze right now, huh?

Well, I love them too!

Plus I thought it would be the perfect reminder spot to leave notes you’ll see before heading out the door.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Now because it is a small and kind of dark room it was difficult to get a good photo.

Well, actually impossible, but I did try.

Also I promise it is level and square, even though the pictures may trick your eyes into thinking it’s not. :)

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

It was so simple to make.

All I did was go buy some black chalk paint.

I just used the inexpensive kind found at Wal-Mart in the craft department.

I used green painters tape and made a square box, because I wanted it to be positioned centered on the wall.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Now this part of it I just eyed, which I thought was okay because I knew I was going to add wood trim and would make sure that part was level.

Next time, I think I would do it differently.

I would take the time at the start and use a level with my tape because ….

I wanted the board area as big as possible, so when we went to add the trim and make sure it was actually level, there was a small strip in one of the corners where the white was exposed.

I had to get the chalk board paint back out and add more to this area before we could finish the trim.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I didn't think to get any photos of us actually hanging the trim, sorry.

We used two pieces of fluted trim and four small corner rosettes, found at Home Depot.

The trim was $9.99 a piece and the rosettes were like a $1.60 something.

I still have a nice size piece of trim left, which was good incase we would have made a mistake when cutting.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I used some antique white paint I already had on hand.

Hung the trim with some little finishing nails and Poof, my new chalk board.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Even Brett likes it, so that is always a plus.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I get to spend today cleaning. Yippee! :(

We have a house viewing at 9AM.

Yikes, Too early for me, people. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Visit To Grandmas – Kortney’s Graduation – And Joyful News

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Do you ever have one of those days where your heart is filled with Love and your eyes are opened to how truly blessed you are?

I am having one of those wonderful days today.

All the hardships and stresses that seem to consume me at times, today don’t seem as important.

My eyes are open and I see…

I am Blessed.

Blessed beyond belief.

Blessed far more than I deserve.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

What a hectic yet wonderful week I have had.

It started with the visit to my Grandma’s.

I spoke briefly about it in my previous post.

And I admit it, in a way I was dreading it.

Only because it was going to be my first time to her home since her passing.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

We met over there to go through her doll collection and some of her things.

A day I was afraid was going to be filled with sadness, Wasn't.

Sure there were some tears, but there was also laughter and memories.

I’m not sure I say this enough but I truly Love my family.

Each and Every one of them.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

You often hear stories of after someone passes it tears a family apart.

You hear of fighting over who deserves this or that.

This is not the family I have.

I am Blessed.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

We all gathered together and everyone was thinking of each other.

Asking if it was okay with everyone if we had this or that.

Or picking out things that another should have.

It is hard to describe, except to say,

A family and a day full of Love.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

The dolls with paper name tags were ones that my Grandma had selected to leave to someone specific.

But there were many, many, many more to go through.

I felt as though my Grandma and Grandpa were there with us and thinking…

“We did a great job!”

:)

You truly did!

You created a family that Loves each other.

You showed each and every day what truly was important.

Each other!

Yes, I am blessed!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Above is the doll my Aunt picked out for me.

She wanted me to take it because it made her think of the post I made after Grandma passed.

In the post I talked about how my Grandma loved to work out in her yard and I how I know she is now tending to gardens in Heaven.

I have placed my Granny doll in my sewing room on a shelf right above my sewing machine.

This way I will always see it and remind myself of how truly Blessed I am.

*Thank you Avis for thinking of me.  I love you!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

The photo below is a doll I picked out for someone Very Special and someone who is already Loved beyond belief.

It is also the Very Joyful news I have to share.

Come December, I am going to be a Grandma!!!

:)

My oldest daughter is expecting her first child, my first Grandbaby, and I'm so excited I can not contain myself.

I have known for about a month now, but Kelsey wanted to keep it a secret until the first trimester had passed.

Well, in this family, it didn't happen!

So, I figured since the secret was out it would be okay to share with all of my online friends.

This is the doll I picked out for the “Wee-One”, which is what I call my soon to be Grandbaby.

I am blessed!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

This is just one thing I have for the baby.

I have been going Nuts this yard sale season.

We don't know yet if it is going to be a boy or a girl, so I have been buying both!

I am blessed with a daughter who doesn't mind to share this experience with me.

A daughter who includes me in.

A daughter who loves me and wants to share this child and this experience with me.

I am Blessed.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Yesterday was Kortney’s high school graduation.

What a wonderful day!

My sister, BIL, and nieces traveled home from MO, which thrilled Kort because she adores her cousins.

If it was up to her we would move to MO so we could see them everyday.

Anyway, Vicki, Mom and I got up and went junkin’.

There weren't very many YS but we did have a good time.

Vicki was able to get an old wheelbarrow for a Pinterest project she had seen.

Mom got an old coal bucket and rake for decorating her yard.

Me… I bought baby stuff. :)

We then gathered together at Mom and Dad’s for a lunch time barbeque.

Which bad me, I forgot to take photos!

My M&D only live about two blocks from the HS so Kortney got ready there, we took some photos and we all walked to the Graduation.

Yep, another Pinterest found project.

I laughed and said I was going to start calling her the Queen of Pinterest.

She also brought deserts from recipes found on Pinterest.

The silly string celebration!!

Then 10:30 last night till 5:00 am this morning was Project Graduation.

A lock-in celebration for the class at the high school.

This was started to give the kids a fun and safe way to celebrate.

Kortney’s class raised a whopping $12,000 for the event!

There were games, food and raffle prizes.

Two IPad minis, two televisions, two microwaves, two mini fridges, two tower fans, many gift cards from places like Best Best, Wal-Mart, Target, 2 sets of St. Louis Cardinal tickets, two sets of tickets to Holiday World, Gas gift cards, and More were given away to the kids!

*Man, I’m so jealous our class never got to do anything like this!!

Kortney came home sooo excited!

She was lucky enough to win this!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

She had planned on buying a tablet with her Graduation money, instead she Won one!

She also co-won the Project Graduation t-shirt design and received a check for $100.

She drew the tiger design and the other young lady came up with the wording.
