Our 4th Celebration + Finally Sam Finished

Hello Everyone!!

I hope you all had a fabulous and safe holiday weekend!!

We had a nice time.

Every year we have a small get together on the 4th.  We live right next to our towns park, so our back yard is the perfect spot for watching the annual fireworks display.

It was actually one of the reason why we decided to build here. :)

My Sister, BIL, and nieces came down from MO.

Plus we had my Mom and Dad, Grandma, and other family and friends.

We barbequed and watched the kids shoot off our fireworks while we waited for the City’s show to begin.

Here are a few photos of our evening together.

My son, Mitchell, and my niece Erin.

Well, this week I was finally able to get my Uncle Sam finished.

I have been working on him when ever I could find time.

So it has taken me like 2 months to get him completely done.

I am so happy with the way he turned out.

He was completely made by hand.  I formed him 1st with aluminum foil, then coved that in clay and baked to harden.

Then I hand painted him, sanded and aged.

I attached his little legs and arms to his body with wire.

I made his hat from wool felt then hand painted and aged it.  I accented the brim with glass glitter.

Eeekk!! Don't look I'm naked!!! :)

Next came deciding how to dress him.

Here he is all finished up.

002-1

I hand made all his clothes then stained them for that old prim appearance.

The same with his flag.  Which is attached to wire and the design is painted on both sides.

I love his little ears.

His hair and beard is made of raw wool.

I have him sitting in my bedroom right now.

I am trying to decide if I want to make an Abe or Santa clay doll next!!??

Decisions ~ Decisions!! LOL!! :)

I’ve been working on a few more things for a Christmas In July swap I am doing over at Prim Pals Forum.

We did a secret Santa type swap.  So I cant say who I sent my package to or show off what I sent until I know she has received it.

I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.

I also have been working on some items for Char's Textiles Swap.

Having a lot of fun with this one!!

I haven't yet found out who I'm swapping with yet.

But in my excitement I couldn't stop myself from starting on this one!! Heehee! :)

That is about all that is new with me.

I thank you all for stopping by to visit me.

Until Next Time….

Take Care Everyone!!

Wow, what a dandy looking Uncle Sam! That is so cool how you made him. I'd like to try that some day. You could start creating both Abe and Santa, yes:)
