A Work In Progress…But Still Makes My Heart Skip A Beat!

     Good Morning Everyone!!

As a lot of you know, Marie @ Primitives By Olde Lady Morgan is having a giveaway.

For extra entry, she said to make a post about what makes your heart skip a beat.

Well, for me there are a Lot of things…

None more so than my Family, of course!

My hubby and my amazing kiddo’s.

010

For my entry post, though, I thought I would write about something else.

As long as I have been sewing and creating I have never had a room that was just for that!

When we moved into this home, I was lucky enough to have a room of my own for my internet business stuff and for sewing.

But it has always been ugly.

Seriously…   U_G_L_Y!!!

Over loaded with my items for sale, boxes, packing supplies, my computer, etc.

See…

~Old Space ~

My old combined space is wonderfully functional.

It gives me plenty of space for storage and packaging.

But lets admit it…. It Is Ugly!!!

(And yes, it deserve being called that again. ) LOL!

How can one get inspiration in here???

Since I started blogging I have seen so many amazing creating rooms that fill me with so much inspiration!

And yes, made me think…

I want a pretty room like that! :)

Here are a few examples of what I mean…

Dawn @ The Feathered Nest.

I always LOVE reading Dawn’s posts and seeing her amazing photos!

Lisa @ Tarnished And Tattered.

I found her wonderful blog a little while back and I love it!

Vicki @ Rusty Rooster Vintage.

A newly found blog that I really enjoy reading.

So, when hubby decided to move his office into the larger back room… I got his old one for my sewing room.

YAY!!!

Originally we were going to knock down some of the wall that separated my two spaces.  But I guess that isn't going to happen now.

We are unsure if it is load baring wall.   And to be honest, I just want to get things done.  Not starting something else, that will make a big mess!

So, last week or so I started on my new sewing room.

It is still a Big Work In Progress and no where near finished but here is what I got done so far.

Please try ignore the gross floors.

We pulled the carpeting up and will be putting down Pergo flooring.

But for now, it is still icky concrete with glue residue from the padding and tack strips that still need removed.

See my sewing desk??

I redid this. It was an ugly 1960s yellowish white with green trim.

I forgot to take pictures of it before I started painting it.

But I was able to pull out my iPhone and get a shot of one section to show you how horrible it was.

Yuck!

Now it is a pretty white.

I’m happy with the way it turned out.

I'm trying to keep most of the furniture in here white.

I don't have much right now… But I'm working on it.  :)

I love the look of stacked fabric!!

Above is an actual 1913 Diploma from my local high school.

Don't you love its antique tiger wood frame.

Pretty fitting for the Herrin Tigers, huh!  :)

Now for the two areas I want to tweak!

Hubby let me use this next cabinet. (Below photo)

But what I want is two white cabinets with doors to hide all of this stuff.

Stacked fabric is pretty…

This is Not!

You will also notice that I ran out of paint!!

Don't you hate when that happens.

The painting is almost finished and I run out with this little section needing to be done.

I went and bought more yesterday, now just to get it finished.

And I hate to paint. :)

There is also these…

I ran out of shelves to use, so I pulled these babies out of a closet. LOL!!

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Yes, these plastic shelves are also on my list to replace.

But right now I'm just grateful to have something to use for storing these totes.

And there you have it!

My Work In Progress Sewing Room.

Still a lot to be done, but I'm glad to finally have a creating room that I can fill with pretty inspiration!!!

Yes, it does make my heart skip a beat!

I’ll keep you updated time to time on how its coming along.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Until Next Time…

Take Care and Blessings to you All,

Tam

I think your room is great! I esp. think you will appreciate the white furniture in a craft room so you can SEE what you are doing! :) esp. late night crafting!
I made the mistake of setting my craft room up in a nook of our very large nursery... BIG mistake. Crafting time IS nap time... DUH... now I will be moving it all into a heated/cooled finished room above our garage. This holds the GOBS of baseball stuff my hubby HAS to keep... but he NEVER goes in that room! Time to TAKE OVER! :)

Whoooopeee! You have a room of your own... what a great start. We all have to start somewhere! And, even though you hate painting, you're tackling those projects too. It'll all come together...and this IS garage sale and estate sale season. you just might find the exact right things you need to hide the things you'd rather not see. ;-)

You could turn those bookcases around, pull them out from the wall a couple of feet and put your sewing machine up to what would now be the front of them..... so the things couldn't be seen and you'd have a place to put your sewing machine too... paint the bookcases and add wallpaper to the back... CHEAP... and I LOVE cheap.

Blessings to you!

Spencer

Ahhhh...Lucky you Tam! I would give my eyeteeth to have either your before or after spaces...My "creative" space is the little circle of wool by my feet - or what I snatch from the top of the dining room table. So frustrating.... I don't have a "craft" career, but still the same, it's not very inspiring or motivating!! Have fun pulling it all together...Can't wait to see when it's all done! Have a great weekend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Wow...some women dream of diamonds & furs, I dream of a craft room!! What a wonderful space you have & I love that you're using white in here...so bright & clean looking. My "craft room" is my "nest" on the couch and usually all over the dining room table...yes we eat in the living room in front of the tv because my stuff is usually all over....am I alone here girls?? PLEASE tell me I am not!! Someday I WILL have my own space and not have my things all over. LOVE this Tam...it's great ~Kriss~
