A Winner And Some Other Stuff

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful week.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

The weather lately in Southern IL has been gorgeous.

I haven’t turned my air on in days!! WooHoo!!

Don’t you love the days when you open your windows and just enjoy the outdoor breeze.

I may have to turn it back on today though, feeling a little warm.  I'm trying to hold off but I would say that when my daughter gets home from school she will start complaining about being hot. :)

We’ll see.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I would love to tell you that I had a fabulous and exciting birthday yesterday, but….

Nope!

Didn’t do much of anything except work.

My youngest daughter did buy me a cheesecake for my birthday, though.

That was sooo sweet of her.

I kept telling her that I didn't want her spending her money on me.  But she insisted saying she wanted to.

Brett had to work on my actual B-Day but we did hit a few antique stores the day before.

My Mom has the camera so I will have to wait until later to show you what he bought me while junkin’.

I didn't buy much though because we are saving,  have to fly Kelsey home for Thanksgiving.

(No, she couldn’t get off for Christmas!)  But she does get to home for Thanksgiving, so I'm grateful for that.

Plus Brett and I are planning on going to the Country Living Fair in Sept or Oct.

I've never been before, so I told him a while back, I would love to go for a belated birthday trip.

Keeping my fingers crossed it all works out and I get to go!! :)

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

My Mommy made me another fireplace for my birthday!

This one for my bedroom!

I don’t have it decorated the way I want it yet.

I've been so busy, haven’t had much time to play and tweak it.

But these photos will give you an idea.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I’m not loving the shelf above it.

I had it up there before and haven't taken it down.

Here is a BEFORE shot of the wall.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

And AFTER:

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I LOVE the Fireplace!!

(Thanks so much, Mom!!)

I am struggling with decorating it though.

I’m wanting to keep the decor Colonial and Americana.

And I am  just not sure what to do yet.

First thing, I guess, I need to take everything off, including the shelf and Abe’s picture.

Start with a clean slate!

My mind seems to work better that way.

I would welcome any suggestions on how I should decorate it.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I also want to point out that it is NOT shinny in person.

I couldn't get a good photo!

I am really wanting a Good amateur camera!!

If any of you have suggestions please let me know.  I have no idea what is a Good camera and what isn’t.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I got a wonderful surprise Birthday card in the mail a few days ago.  It was from our dear friend, Linda.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Thank you so much, Linda, for thinking of me!!

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Humm… Lets see, what else??

Got my hair cut Friday.

Which I always hate doing.

Guess that is why it had been a year or maybe two since I went.  LOL!!

She cut about 10” off my hair!

It really needed done though.

So, here is the new me! :)

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I can’t get over how much I look like my sister in the photo.

When I showed it to her, she agreed but said, “I do smile though.”

LOL!!

Sorry, I tried but I felt like an idiot looking into the mirror smiling at myself. Hehee!

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Hummm…

What else??

I feel like I’m forgetting something??

Oh, the winner of my giveaway!!

Hi Tammy :) Happy belated birthday!
Love the new hair-do!!
The new fireplace is wonderful - your mom is so talented! The only suggestion I have is maybe a garland across the front. You could do one out of old patriotic postcards clipped to homespun or twine maybe.
I'm with you, I always have to start with nothing there and build it up. It usually takes me quite a few tries...
Oops! Almost forgot to say congratulations to Trish - lucky girl! :) And thank you to you for hosting a fun giveaway, too. :)

Yay for good weather. We are getting some too, it almost feels as if fall wants to come early this year.

Happy belated birthday! :)

I love the fireplace your mom made. It looks really wonderful!

Your haircut looks great! I just trimmed up my daughter's, it was to her behind. Even a little bit chopped off feels good.

Congrats to Trish for winning the flag pillow!

Happy Day after Birthday Tam!
You AND your haircut are adorable!

Thank you for hosting your lovely Giveaway and a big Congrats to Trish for winning...know she will be thrilled!!

Love your new mantle!! I think the best thing (for me, anyway) is to just start with a clean slate!! When I have to redo displays at the shop where I work, it is ALWAYS harder to try to rework something, rather than just start fresh! I seem to get more inspired and creative with a clean slate!!

Take care and have a wonderful day!

Oh Tammy - you are adorable!! Love the new do!! Matches your sweet and perky personality!! Your mom makes fireplaces??? Holy cool!!! I want your mom!!! Does she do this for others too??? That is so, so, cool!! I know you will have it tweaked out just right in no time....But you asked - I'm seeing some kind of bigger colonial or presidential picture above it as a focal point - and then I'd play from there!! And silly, silly, you...41 is nothing to not have fun about!!! It gets worse from there!! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin (PS - Congratulations Trish!! Lucky you! And thanks, Tam, for hostessing another wonderful giveaway!)

Tammy, the fireplace is amazing, Kathy Schmitz has a new pattern for a 'mantle-scarf', it's a Christmas decoration & it would be lovely on your mantle

Your mom is one talented lady! Love the fireplace and think it looks fabulous in your room. I'm sure you will get it decorated just the way you want it -- starting from a clean slate is always a good way to do it. (Although I must say it doesn't look bad the way you have it!!)
Happy Belated Birthday to you!!

Wow Tammy, I wish your Mom lived close to me I would get her to make me a fireplace for my shop I love it, makes your bedroom so cozy. I'm not really sure how I would decorate it either. Guess it would be easier with the real thing. I'm sure you will do fine. Happy belated birthday.
