Work In Progress – But Hubby’s Done Good!

Hello All,

Some of you may remember awhile back, me talking about my hubby giving up his old office so I could have a sewing room.

And him moving into a larger room in the back part of the basement.

His Steelers Man Cave Office!! :)

Well, he has been working away in there.

It is Not finished yet…

No flooring and I have promised to get in there and help organize all his memorabilia.

Yep, on my list of Have-To’s,  just Haven’t got to it yet.  :(

Any way…

He did get his walls all painted.

And OMGosh!!

It seems like it took him forever!

Lots of taping!!    Tons!!

And yes, he did it all on his own.

Now I warn you, Prim Pretty it is Not!

But it will make any Steelers Fan heart race.

*The Huge emblem is a “Fat Head” decal, everything else was done with paint.

Try to ignore the clutter.

I should have straightened it up some before taking pictures, But…

*Also ignore the ugly plaid couch, we need to get that carried up out of here.

He is wanting this…

Oh, and of course he had to have a spot for his hero!!

Indiana Jones!!

I also want to mention that we have 11 foot ceilings in our basement, so the black doesn't make the room feel small at all.

In fact, it helped.

Now didn't my Hubby do a Great job!! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.

And I will leave you all with this….

Here We Go Steelers!!

Here We Go!!!

How To Make Paper Christmas Ornies ~ S0 Easy and Fun!

Hello Everyone.

I have been working on some ornies lately.

Some of them I can’t show off right now because they are for an upcoming swap.

But I did want to share something Easy you might like to make for yourself.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Look how cute!!

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

These are made of paper (both sides.)

Sewn, stuffed, and then a wire hanger added to back side.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Okay, I'm not the best on giving instructions, but I’ll try.   :)

First you will need is some printer paper and some tea.  (or anything to age the paper with)

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I simply wet down a large tea bag and rubbed it on to one side of the paper.

Got out my hair dryer, and flipped the paper back and forth until dry.

Then I went through my photos folder and found some with Christmas themes.

I changed all of mine to black and white, but you could leave them colored if you wanted to.

The graphic shown below came from  Cajoline-Scrap.

Original graphic.

After I turned it to B&W.

*Feel free to copy Santa graphics and use for your ornies.

I printed it on to my dried, tea stained, paper.

Cut them out.

I then backed it with another piece of the stained paper.

Using my sewing machine to sew around the edges.

*No turning, sew with design side up.

Leaving a small section across the bottom to push a little stuffing inside.

*Use small amounts and go slowly so you don't tear the paper.

Once I had it a little puffy, I stuck the bottom back into the sewing machine and closed it up.

Lastly, I took a little wire, formed a hook, and with a little hot glue attached it to the back.

And that’s it!

Easy, wonderful Christmas decorations.

And you can use any design or size you wish.

And there you have it,  nearly Free Primitive Christmas ornies!

Now I have to get back to work.

Penny And Pillows

Penny has been adopted.
Thank you Betty.

Happy Friday Everyone!

I thought I would pop in and show you what I have been creating lately.

1st is my newest burlap bear.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Meet Penny…

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

She is a big one.

She measures approx. 24” tall.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

She is a Large, primitive, handmade, teddy bear.
She is made to look old, worn and well loved.
Her arms are string jointed. Which give them ability to be moved and posed some.
Her head is not jointed in any way.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Her eyes are made from black, antique style, shoe buttons.
She is made completely of burlap to give her the appearance that all of her fur has been loved away.
She is stuffed with old quilt batting and rags.
Which gives her a wonderful lumpy feel to her.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

She was made to look Old, Worn, and well loved.
Including little prim patches and primitive repaired spots here and there.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I dressed Penny in a simple dress, made from reproduction black and brown homespun.
Over that I placed a true vintage old baby slip.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

No glue is ever used on my bears.
Everything is either machine or hand sewn.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

She and her clothes have been put through a grubby process to give them that worn prim appearance.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

My original creation.
And Penny, like all of my bears, is a One Of A Kind creation.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

She will come signed and dated.
She also will come with a hang tag stating she is a one of a kind creation, handmade by me.
