My Donations

 

Hi Everyone!

I know I haven’t been around in awhile, but I haven't had much free time.

I just finished up my donations for the charity, craft, silent auction which is taking place at my husbands job.

Whew! So glad that is finished!!

Here are my creations for charity….

The Bear and the Santa are my original designs.

The pumpkin head gal was adapted from a Sweet Meadows Farm pattern.

I love this little guys paper hat.

I made it from a 1930’s magazine article.

His flag was hand painted on to burlap.

It is difficult to tell in photos but he is been aged to look old and worn.

In the photos it doesn't show up too well because of the dark shade of fur.

Santa was hand formed from clay, then baked,  painted and dressed.

He can sit or stand.

His beard and hair are made from old cotton quilt batting.

I love making dolls from clay but they are so time consuming!!

He took Forever to get finished.

But I am happy with how he turned out.

Lastly is my pumpkin head gal.

She is not as bright of an orange as she is appearing in the photos.

More of a brownish orange in person.

I love the droopy eyes I gave her.

Under her nose is a little creased though.

I would love to know how to make this not happen.

If any doll makers have a tip for preventing this I would be so grateful to hear.

I have selected St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital for my charity.

Oh, not enough hours in the day.

Plus we are having a yard sale tomorrow.

Have to finish getting things ready for that.

We tried to have last weekend but it rained all Saturday, so we are going to try again.

DG & DT Porch Decorating & Craft Supplies

Went back to To the Dollar Tree yesterday with my daughter and got a couple supplies for crafting.

But before I show you that, I wanted to share what I got at Dollar General.

They had the cutest silicone molds.

Well, actually they are calling them ice trays, but I am going to use them for making tarts.

Aren’t these just the cutest!

They are bendable too! Not that horrible hard plastic.

And can’t beat the price! $1.00

 

I also picked up these silhouette Owls, but I have no idea what I will do with them.

And aren't these wonderful.

I bought the candy corn color, but they also have solid orange and black ones.

I believe the price for these were around $3.00.

Which brings me to the crafting part of my post.

I wanted to make a twig tree for my front porch.

So yesterday Mom and I gathered up some branches and carried them home with us when we went for our morning walk.

I decided to drill a hole through the top and bottom of one of my faux pumpkins and stick the branches through it.

I wanted the branches to go all the way through, so I could stick them into the dirt that remained in the chamber flower pot.

I thought this might help secure it when the fall winds begin…. we will see. ;)

Then I took one box of my DG Halloween lights and wrapped it around the branches.

Still needed more though.

Which brings me to what I got at the DT yesterday.

I picked up 3 black crows.

They have wire sticking out of their feet so it made it easy to attach them to the branches.

Now before I show you how it turned out, I want to say…

I don't consider it finished yet, I want to pick up some berry garland and wrap it around the branches like I did with the one in the foyer.

Plus I am wanting to stick some Spanish Moss where the sticks go into the pumpkin, just need to run to Wal-Mart and pick some up.

But I wanted to go ahead and show off how it looks so far.

It was simple easy to make!

Kinda Cute, huh?!

A little bare yes, it needs those berry for color and to help hide the cord.

But I think it is a really cute idea!!

See there’s my wreath I made the other day. ;)

I’ve been working on decorating my porch the past few days.  Still not done yet.  I will be sure to show it off as soon as I get it finished.

Here is a close-up of the Dollar Tree crows.

And a close-up showing how simple it is to stick the branches into the pumpkin, once you drill out the orange exterior.

The pumpkin centers are star foam and these type of pumpkins can be found pretty much anywhere.

I believe mine came from either Wal-Mart or Target.

And here is a shot of it all lit up at night.

Before I sign off I wanted to show the little ice trays molds I picked up at the Dollar Tree.

I think I like these better than the ones I got a DG. 

These are more Fall, rather than the Jack-O’ Lantern design, which makes me think Halloween only.

Now I must go sew!!

I have so much to get caught up on.

The deadline for the charity auction is getting closer and closer and I haven't finished anything for it.

Plus I still have those bear orders to get finished!!

I need more hours in the day. :)

Awesome Swap Goodies – Plus Fall Decorating!! *PHP

Hello Everyone.

Well, yesterday felt like Christmas to me!!!

I got Two amazing swap goody packages in the mail.

The 1st one was from Robin @ The Primitive Hutch blog.

She was my partner in Amy's recent doll swap.

WOWSERS!

Look at all these amazing goodies she sent…

Sweet Robin sent me a wonderful large prim black doll holding a pumpkin.

Plus she sent me an oh so cute sewing doll!!

A prim witch pillow, a small pumpkin, an adorable witches shoe peg hanger, a Jack O’ Lantern wearing a witches hat.

Wait… There is still MORE!!!

A wonderful wooden sign, a note pad and pencil, a pretty dish cloth, and a sweet card.

Thank you so much, Robin, for all my new goodies.

Here is where I have some of them displayed.

I have my large prim baby sitting next to my fireplace.

Doesn’t she just make you Smile!!

 

My sewing doll I put in my sewing room, of course!!

She looks so cute sitting next to one of my sewing baskets.

 

I have the witch pillow sitting on a shelf in my dining room.

 

 

The small pumpkin I have inside my dining room cupboard.

 

I have the adorable witches shoe hanging in my kitchen.

 

 

I have the Jack O’ Witch ;)  displayed in my living room.

And lastly, I have put my wooden sign in my sewing room.

(Oldest as in how long we have known each other… not her age!! LOL!!)

Maybe one day!!

That is an antique coverlet!!!

LOVE IT!!

 

When we first decided to swap she was suppose to send me only the coverlet, but my dear friend surprised me with bonus goodies too!!!

*She also sent a lot of grubby candles but I forgot to put them in the group photo above.  I have them displayed in a soap dish in my Kitchen and simply forgot to go get them for the photo.

Sorry. :(

I was also surprised with a wonderful sheep.

WooHoo! I love sheep.

And a cute wooden sign and wonderful card.

Look at this neat card!

I’m considering framing it.

 

Here is where I have my goodies displayed.

I have put the coverlet on my bed.

I am wanting to stagger old coverlets and quilts on my bed.

Now thanks to Dawn, I have one more!!

Here are the wonderful grubby candles I have in my kitchen.

I have put my sheep in the dining room for now.

But I am going to do some tweaking and find another spot for him.

 

He doesn't show up good enough here.

The shelf hides his little legs.

And last but certainly not least…

I put the wooden sign in my sewing room for wonderful inspiration.

While I have you all here I thought I would also share a little fall decorating I have done lately.

I love decorating for Fall.

Oh heck, I love decorating Period. ;) Heehee!

But one thing that I noticed today and I absolutely LOVE…

So many of my decorations were handmade by my blogging buddies.

How wonderful it is to have their creations throughout my home.

Everywhere I look I am reminded of them.

I've also been decorating my porch this week.

Not quite finished yet.

Hopefully I will get to show it off soon.

It has rained All Day here in Southern IL.

I wasn't able to get outside and get anything done today.

Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
