I Need Help Selecting A White

Hi everyone.
I am wanting to repaint my bathroom and try a white on the walls.
But I need help selecting a white.
My hubby would think that was a crazy request.
To him, white is just white.
But we all understand that there are so many different shades.
So I am turning to all of you for some suggestions.
Do you have a favorite brand and shade for me??
Thanks for any help you can give.

I painted my kitchen white last year, and I used Rona "ultra white"
This white is so white, once I painted the walls, it made my white toaster and microwave look yellowish LOL.
I love it. It is soo crisp. I will never use another white again!

...My Mom was an interior designer and has always said when you want to paint white, to always add a minor hint of pink to it. It gives it a bit of a glow, instead of stark. I have tried that method many years and have never regretted it. You will never notice the pinkness.
Hope this helps...

Husbands don't understand what an important decision colors are - mine has had to endure many a color query from me too...but in the end, he says.."whatever you choose will look great" I say the same! You'll make it look wonderful I'm sure.
Good luck choosing Tammy!

Hi Tammy,
Can't help you with a wall paint. I have never painted a wall white other than primer.
I can recommend a white for everything else tho. Olympic One ... has about the whitest white I've seen.
Good luck ... It really is a hard choice.

Tammy I understand your request perfectly.
When we built on our screen room I wanted the interior to be white.
We bought 7 or 8 of those 'sample' jars of paint - all different whites. Wow, incredible...some have more black in them, some more yellow...some more red - it really does change the look of a 'white'.
Buy the samples and paint them on next to something that is permanent and hopefully you can get a good idea.

Benjamin Moore Mayonnaise. It's creamy and wonderful. And of course we understand this question!

I use white in my house, have no idea what one I bought, lol. I prefer the flat whites with just a hint of beige or sand, warms up the white.

I do like a white with just a hint of pink added. It makes it so it isn't so ........ sanitary? Ha ha. I don't know if that makes any sense at all. Any how. Good luck. -Steph-

I always have difficulty choosing whites, tans, etc., and my friends' colors never look the same in my house. I started laying the paint samples on a pure white sheet of paper. It really helps show yellow, pink, or green tints so you get the tone you're looking for.

While looking at paint chip samples I was shocked at just how many whites there are. I ended up with linen & applied a copper glaze I sponged off. Good luck. Blessings!

We're in the same situation here. The walls need to be repainted and I'm planning on going with the same color for every room. My daughter said that the Martha Stewart paints are nice. She bought some on sale at Home Depot. I think one of the first bloggers said 'Linen'. That's a nice one. I'll never decide at the rate I'm going.

Oh I am not sure on a white for you, but there are many shades of whites...too many for me to even choose. Good luck. Cannot wait to see what you choose. Take care, Janice

Oh....I SOOO get your question....The majority of our walls are white - and we have a loft area....When we replaced our windows the year before last, we needed to repaint the lower area, but I didn't want to have to redo the upper area and wanted the two whites to match. Easier said than done since I didn't remember the color we originally used. Anyway...we went with "Morning Sun" by Sherwin-Williams and I'm very happy with it. It appears "yellowish" on the color sample cards, but actually gives a very warm glow to the room. Works great with mustard tones and prim patinas. Good luck! (And do let us know what you ultimately decide on!) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
