Stanley & Stella + Secret Revealed

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Hello all my wonderful blogging buddies!!

I hope you are having a fabulous week.

Mine sure is a lot better than the last few I have had.

Hubby’s better, Kelsey’s home, and I received the most amazing email earlier this week.

What email you ask?? :)

Well, I was contacted by Stephanie a writer for Teddy Bear Review magazine.

She said she was working on an article for the magazine and wanted to know if I would be interested in submitting some photographs of my bears.

Heck Yeah, I would!! :)

I am so honored!!!

I have read TBR for years!!!

And the thought that my little burlap teddies have a chance to be in such an amazing magazine just blows me away.

*If by any chance you read this Stephanie….

You have made my week Year!!!

Her article will salute bears that have a different construction from mohair or plush.

Bears that are made from, or feature a lot of materials that are unique.

Such as:

wool, yarn, wood, leather, silk, felt, plastic, canvas, upholstery, burlap, velvet, soy, metal, and other types of mixed media.

I know that some out there might be accustomed to having their work featured in a magazine, but for me this is a First!!!

I’m sure you can feel my excitement in this post.

Right now I don’t which, if any, will be selected for the article.

I submitted multiple photos for her to chose from.

Past made bears and my 3 newest bears.

Clyde, which I showed off in my previous post.

And my first ever, brother and sister, pair of bears!!

Stella and Stanley

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

They are made completely out of burlap and measure approx. 13” tall.

Rag stuffed (fabric remnants).

Their arms and legs are string jointed, which gives them the ability to be moved and posed somewhat.

Their heads are not jointed in any way.

They both have hump backs, just like old teddy bears.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I put Stanley, Stella and their clothing through a multi step aging process to give them that wonderful old, worn, tattered appearance.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

They have matching, reproduction, green homespun paw pads.

Plus I gave them coordinating outfits.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I used old shoe buttons for their eyes.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

They were completely hand and machine sewn. No glue.

Also like all of my bears, Stella and Stanley are One Of A Kind Creation handmade by me.

I currently have them listed in My Etsy Shop.

If you are interested, please…

I’m still enjoying my time with Kelsey.

So I won’t be back to my normal blogging, visiting and commenting until she heads back to California.

I’m sure you understand.

Please know, I have missed you all!!

I do try to check in as much as possible with my phone.  It is just difficult for me to comment from there.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

We have had a wonderful time with Kelsey.

Maybe a little too much when went out to eat the other night.

You see….

The Young’s have a tendency to be LOUD!!!

And Brett said the people at Cracker Barrel kept staring us.

Don’t ya just love people like us!! LOL!!

We were talking and laughing, not realizing how loud we were getting until hubby started shhh-ing us.

Oh well, making memories!

That is the way I chose to see it.

It was the first time, in way toooo long, that all 5 of us went out somewhere together.

APP ~Tammy

I’m trying not to think about how hard it is going to be when she heads off again, not knowing when she’ll be back for another visit.

But some times I can’t keep those thoughts away.

*Like right now… Push! Push those thoughts away.

Friday she is going with Kortney and I prom dress shopping.

Kortney’s first prom!

Oh, my baby is growing up too fast.

We’re going to make a day of it, so that should be fun.

I’m sorry, I’m babbling.

One more quick thing to show off.

And I must apologize for the delay.

A couple of weeks ago I got a wonderful surprise package in the mail from my dear, sweet friend Marie.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

She sent me a wonderful lot of four fabrics and stitchery thread.

Thank you so much, sweetie!!!

Oh yes, I can put these to use. :)

APP ~Tammy

Well, it’s after midnight and I have to get up early, so I must sign off.

(Wont be publishing this until tomorrow.)

Don't you hate when you have to go to bed, even though your not tired.

But sure enough when that alarm goes off at 6:30am I won’t want to get up and wish I had went to bed sooner!!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.

And don’t forget to…

to check out Stanley and Stella in my Etsy shop.

TAMMY....I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU...what an honor to have your bears chosen...and well deserved too. Your creations are wonderful.

I just can't imagine one of my children living so far away that I just couldn't get in the car and in a few minutes see them. Many of our relatives and friends are in your situation. I do feel bad...but oh isn't it wonderful how much fun you have when they are home.

I do completely understand the 'laughing' and having a good time when you are all together. We are like that too. Remember a few weeks ago for my husbands birthday when I said we had a room all to ourselves at the restaurant...and I was thankful for it because we get kind of loud with talk and laughing. The way it should be!!!
