As The Years Go By…

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Hello Everyone!

I was looking through some photos of my home through the years.

I don’t have a lot of the older ones, because my computer crashed a few years back and I lost all my saved pictures.  :(

That is one thing bad about technology, if I had actual prints they would still be around.

Yes, I know I could go to some where and have them made into prints, but…

I know me, I never will.

I thought it would be fun to make a post about the changes in my home over the years.

Some of the photos will have Christmas decor in them, but they were the oldest I could find, 2008.

Living Room

The first photo is basically what it looked like when we moved in.

Berber carpeting and Dorothy Ruffled Original Curtains.

I wish I still had the photos from when this room had wall paper, but unfortunately, they were some of the ones lost.

Actually at one time, nearly every room in the house had some type of wall paper and ruffled curtains.

The first thing we changed was the flooring and of course, some tweaking…

Then came the new curtains and more tweaking…

The foyer is the most difficult space for me to decorate.

I have struggled with this space for years!!!

Lets look back…

I guess the biggest change after the new flooring and curtains was painting this cupboard black.

The Breakfast Nook.

This room has seen lots of changes through the years.

When we first moved in, I had this room and the kitchen all decorated in yellow.

I had the vintage, yellow, plastic canister set, yellow everywhere, and on the wall I had the old floral design graniteware.

I would Love to find those pictures!!!

But all I can find are these….

Okay, there you have it.

My home through the last few years.

What I found funny, even in the present day photos, I noticed slight changes and tweaks since I took them.

Oh, it never stops, does it?? :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and traveling back in time with me.

I would like to give an open invitation to anyone who would like to make an “As The Year Go By” post of their decor.

I would love to see it.

Please feel free to link to this post or drop me an email so I don't miss it.

Hugs,

zTam

We bought our current house last year. You would call the show hoarders if you saw that mess when we first moved in! Ha Ha!
I will have to take photos of my current house as soon as we finish our repairs and Spring cleaning! You had a lovely room. So sweet and cozy and decorated just to your liking! Hugs Anne

What a fun post Tam! All the changes were for the better - except I did really like those boxes/trunks on your fireplace mantel in the living room.... What a difference painting a few major pieces black.....makes me love that color all over again! I'd love to do a "through the years post" - alas, I'm stuck in the "before" mode. HELP! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Loved seeing the befores and afters. It's amazing how somethings slightly change and some things just get outdated. Loved those ruffled curtains ~ remember when those were the big hit!!!
Thanks for sharing!

I think your before and afters are all great! I wouldn't dare show befores. ooh no. I only started decorating primitively about 3-4 years ago. And at the beginning it was disjointed and an eyesore. LOL. My husband was so patient with me through that awkward primitive decorating time!

Oh Tammy, I loved the tour of your home through the years. Isn't it funny how decor changes, but there are still some things that never go out of style. Can't wait to see what you do next. I know it won't be long before you change something. I am the same way. Blessings ~Sara

You've inspired me--we're definitely turning our keeping room into a more primitive decor. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi, Tam:
Oh, I always tell you this but I mean it. Looking at your photos is like looking at the magazines like Early American Life and APP & Country Journal. I have to go back and look again, but I have to stop drooling on the keyboard! I remember Dorothy's Ruffled curtains, too. The swags you have with the cabin check are gorgeous in your windows. I love the change in your bedroom and dining room.
Hugs,
Susan
