Burlap Porch

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Well my friends, it was another wonderful weather day, here in Southern IL.

I spent literally the entire day outside.

Finally!!

Last week, we were blessed with so many warm days, but because of work, I didn't get to enjoy them

Today, I made sure, I did.

I trimmed bushes, mowed, weeded, and tweaked a bit on my porch.

Now, before sharing a few photos, let me say…

I need to wash down my entire porch, which we will be doing this coming week when we get a power washer.

Also, I need to paint my porch rails.

So, if you notice dust, dirt, and chippy paint, let me ask again, please ignore.

I ask that a lot, huh? :)

Seems like, here lately, every time I share photos, I’m always asking you to ignore something in them. Heehee!!

On my porch, I want to change something's, but since I don't know what, plus I don't have any free money, I decided to do some free tweaking.

The main thing I did was cover my seat cushions with burlap sacks.

No sew.  I just slipped the cushions inside and folded the flaps underneath.

Then I decided to use two of the printed sacks for back cushions on the couches.

Originally, I was going to sew some pillows with burlap, which I still may do, eventually.

But for now, I just slipped two pillows inside a large burlap sack and turned it sideways.

The pillows inside are made of blue and white ticking, so they still look pretty since they show a tiny bit through the opening.

You will also notice that I went ahead and put out my Jo-Ann's geraniums.

I know it is a little early, but the porch looks so bare without them.

I like the burlap seat cushions.

I think they go really good with the color of my siding and the fact I have a farmhouse style house.

The only thing I am unsure about is, the large sacks turned sideways for the back cushions.

My Mom says she likes them, and they are okay, but I think when I get time, I need to make actual pillows.

I think it would look better if the design was right side up.

And there you have it, how I spent my Sunday.

How was your weekend??

I hope fabulous!!

I also want to mention that I have plans for a giveaway, coming soon.

So, be sure to keep an eye out for it.

I have a fun twist on it, I have been considering.

Hummm, can’t decide.

Well, no matter how I decide to do it, there will be one coming hopefully sometime next week.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Until Next Time…

Take Care and Talk Soon!

Tam

The burlap pillows look beautiful on your white wicker, inventive ideas at a very low cost. Burlap is all the rage, I wish I could find some that has script printed on it. Thanks for the tour, my Sunday was spent at work, as fair as can be in the retail world. Connie

You got quite a bit done in a single day there didn't you.
It's much needed here but Doug said we're going to get some more 'weather' so he's waiting...lol

Love your new look - I like that you are thinking of making the feed sacks into pillows so they are upright - it all turned out great.

You gave me some good ideas as I have some burlap sacks in the barn. Thought I was the only one who rushed geraniums. Love them! It is wonderful here too, weather wise.

Love your burlap sack cushions!! And the printed feedsack back pillows :) Always great when you can make something for almost nothing! I made one of those cushions for our bench in our woodstove room, i get the sacks for $3 at our local CO-OP feed store and stuff them with old torn blankets etc. that we can't use anymore. Love your geraniums and hope the nice weather keeps up!
Have a great week,
hugs, Trish

Your porch is looking wonderful Tam! Love the feedsack touches! I think the back cushion looks perfect as is - but, when you mentioned that if you made actual cushions for the back the script would be right side up, I guess I'm the kind that would want it right side up. (See - I didn't notice it, though, until you said it....) I envy you your large covered porch.....ours is so tiny there isn't even room for a chair. Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
