Swap Goodies And Some Other Happenings

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

And a big, Huge, Thank You to all our veterans past and present.

APP ~Tammy

Lately, every post starts out the same, I sound like a broken record, I know.

But life hasn’t slowed down yet.

In fact, it seems more hectic than ever.

Hopefully soon I can get back to being me.

I do apologize for not leaving comments lately.

I have been checking in as often as possible and reading all my favorite blogs, just haven't had time to comment.  For this I apologize.  I promise to try to get back to normal soon.

What’s been going on around here?

Well, work has been crazy.

We have 2 drivers gone for 3 weeks and one quit, so I have no one to help out during the day.  Friday we were three people short.

I delivered from 9:30AM to 11:00 PM, needless to say..

I was exhausted and very grumpy when I finally made it home!

Then on top of that, trying to get the house ready for showing.

We had a couple of potential buyers come by yesterday.

I was way too tired to try to finish cleaning Friday night, so I had to get up bright and early Saturday and get it done.  Luckily, Brett and my son were home, they helped a bunch.  In fact, I couldn't have done it without them.

Somehow though, we got it all cleaned and looking pretty before they arrived around 1:00.

How did go??

Well, haven't heard anything yet, so it looks like we will be actually listing it sometime this week.

The couple that came and viewed it were friends of my SIL’s, so we were holding off until they came by.

I’ll be honest, I was really hoping they would buy it so I wouldn't have to actually list it and fool with all the multiple viewings.  Oh well, what ever happens, Happens.

Last week, Brett and I did make it to a viewing of our own.

It wasn’t either of the ones I talked about in the previous post.

One of them sold and the other we decided was too much over what we wanted to spend.

The one we went and viewed was on 10 acres, even though only actually 3 acres are useable, all the others are filled with trees.  Which is okay, but I would've rather it been open land.

Still though,  just 3 acres at the price they were asking was awesome, if only the house would've been in better shape.

Now we know with buying an older home, you are going to have do some updating.  We actually have owned a couple of old homes throughout our marriage.

But this one…

Just too many major things needed done and when we got home, started crunching numbers, we realized that it was just too much.

One thing I did love about the inside of the house was this…

Sorry, for the poor quality.  The pictures were taken with my phone.

Do you see those wonderful, old, built in cabinets that divide the living room and dining room???

Awesome!! Best part of the house.

See, that is what I am looking for in my next home.

I am wanting an older home with original woodwork and wonderful old details inside.

We are going to view another house tomorrow evening.

This next house sounds Perfect and from the photos looks perfect!

The only downfall, it is in Marion, not Herrin. :(

Not sure I can do that!

I’ll let ya know how it goes.

Now onto the Best part of my week!

I received my wonderful swap goody package from Karen of My Colonial Home.

I forgot to take a photo of my new goodies combined together. Oopps!

As soon as I got them in, I started finding places for them, so here they are all displayed.

(I’m watermarking the close-ups with Karen's website name incase the photos end up on Pinterest.)

Thank you so much Karen for all my wonderful goodies.

I love them all.

Karen has received her goodies from me.

She will be making a blog post soon to show them off, so please be sure to stop by her blog and check them out.

I also want to say thank you to all the wonderful ladies who participated in the envelope swap.

Today was the deadline for mailing out those goody packages, but since today is a Holiday, deadline is tomorrow.

Thanks again for joining in.

I’ll try to be back soon but it could be a week or more until you hear from me again, we will just have to see how life goes.

House Hunting

I know it may be a little too soon, especially since we don’t have an actual buyer yet, but…

It helps to look and see what is out there.

Hubby and I, between finishing projects around here (which we have actually finished quite a few), went driving around looking at properties For Sale.

We have found 2 we are interested in.

We looked, drove and discussed things.

Day dreaming, I guess you could call it.

Saying things like, we could do this or that, we could add this or that, I like this about it, or don't like that about it, etc.

It is a fun way to pass the time, plus for me I like concentrating on the future instead of dwelling on what I will be leaving behind.

Any way, back to the 2 properties…

One is out in the country.

Love that idea.  It sits on an acre and half, love that too!

Plus has a pool! A plus for me, not so much for Hubby. :)

Smaller than the house we own, Yes, both houses are much smaller, but oh well, we don't need all the space anyway.

The second one is more in town, but on the outskirts.

It sits on almost an acre.

It is an older home but it has been completely remolded inside.

Love the yard but most of all love the kitchen.

Shhh! Here are some photos I borrowed of it ;)

Isn’t is so pretty!

And yes, I can just see it decorated up in my Prim Farmhouse style!! :)

We are going to try to set up times to look at both properties.

But with our work schedule and the things we need to get accomplished before next weekend, I’m not exactly sure when that will be.

I’ll keep ya posted.

Tomorrow is paint the basement day!!

Yes, that same space that has been half done for approx. 3 years now. Heehee!!

Sad but true!

Tomorrow it is on our must do this!

Hopefully work will leave me alone so I can actually get it finished.

I am dreading it though.

I have have painted, and painted, and painted lately!

I swear when all of this is finally finished, I may never paint again! :)

Heading off to bed, I must rest this very sore body before I have to get up and start all over again.

Thanks for stopping by!

Purging and Tweaking

 A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Happy Friday everyone!!

OMGoodness, I am so glad it is the weekend.

This has been an extremely hectic week at work, and it couldn't have happened at a worst time.

So much to get done before the potential buyers come by during Memorial Day weekend and I’m never home enough to get it finished.

Not to mention when I am home, I’m too worn out to accomplish much.

One high note, Kort’s last day of school was Wednesday.

Bring on summer break. This school year went by super fast until the last two months, they seemed to drag on forever!  But isn't that how it always is? Well, at least it always feels that way to me.

APP ~Tammy

Even though the yard sale has past, I'm still working on clearing out things.

Way too much stuff!!

So, I have a dining room full of things to get listed for sale, as soon as I can find some time.

I enjoy selling online but doesn't it seem to be a huge ordeal at times.

You must display the item, take photos, load pictures onto the computer, crop and tweak them, and yes sometimes do it all over again because they turned out horrible. (Maybe that's just me! LOL!)

Any who, then once you get the photos all ready, you have to log on to where ever and try to find the words to describe it, figure out what to charge for the item, then figure out what to charge for shipping.

Seriously, I’m worn out just thinking about it.

I don't think I would be dreading it, as much, if it was only one or two things, but its not.  I have tons of stuff to get listed.

Oh well, one day at a time.

Sorry, I’m babbling a bit.

APP ~Tammy

Okay, so we all know that when you start clearing out things, it leaves us with spots to fill, and then one spot leads to another, which leads to another.

And before you know it, you're tweaking all over the place.

For now, I will share the most changed spot….

The Breakfast Nook.

Remember awhile back I shared that I didn't know what to put above my fireplace?

Well, this is what I have come up with, for now…

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I added a shelf.

The shelf was in the hall, but I wanted to open that space up, so I decided to try it in here.

Hummm, maybe I should've painted it a different color??

Oh well, good enough for now.

It is a quilt rack shelf, but I thought I would use it to display some of my old Flour and Sugar sacks.

Turned out kinda cute, don’t ya think??

I also did some tweaking to my cupboard.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

I took all the white stoneware from the dining room and moved it to here.

A Primitive Place ~Tammy

Opps! Sorry, let me open the doors…

There, that’s better. :)

I like it and the white pieces show up much better than the Hodge-podge of items I had.

I will end the post with a quick peek into my dining room..

You can’t really tell in the photos, but the floor surrounding the table is filled with boxes and totes of stuff.

Hopefully soon I will find time to get started on this stuff, but for now, I have too many things that have to come first.

Wish me luck!!

I’m heading off to collapse in front of the TV for the night.

Yes, I know, I should be up working on the list of things that need done, but I can’t tonight.

Today was a long, hot, stressful, and exhausting day, won’t bore you with the details, but I’m not doing anything else tonight.

Tonight, I rest.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit with me.
