Cha Cha Cha Changes! ~ 28 years of My Ever Changing Decorating Styles!

Hello Everyone.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

It’s a rainy, dreary day her in Southern IL.

I was looking through some photo albums earlier and noticed all my different decorating styles through the years, not to mention all my different homes.

So, I thought maybe it would make a fun post.

Do you want to walk through 28 years with me??

Well, if so, here we go.

I have always enjoyed decorating and collecting, even as a child and teenager.

So, I decided to start with my bedroom when I was a teenager.

All done in pastels….

APP ~Tammy

Sorry for the odd shape of some of these pictures.

I had this obsession with cutting them out crazy years ago.

Yes, hanging above my bed was a photo of Brett and I at 8th grade graduation.

Also you may have noticed, this is the same bed we sleep on today.

It was made by Grandpa when I was young.

Yes, I had a thing for teddy bears even way back then.

And I also loved to decorate for Christmas.

Below is a tree I had in my room…

Yep, there is one of my Santa’s that is displayed in my wash tub right now in my dining room.

Next we will flash forward to Dec. of 1988.

This was me and Brett’s first apartment.

I don't really have many photos of it.

Wish I had some of the kitchen because it was actually kind of cute, or at least that is how I remember it.

The reality of it may be something different. :)

Moving forward to 1990.

Our first real house…

This interior saw so many changes, it is hard for me to remember which came after what.

All I know for certain is which was the first style and which was the last.

Above bath was first, then it was changed to the below…

And now the final style of the living.

This was done right before the house fire.

It is a little bare but I was trying to change styles and was unable to get it finished.

Then from there we moved into my still favorite home of all time in 1994…

We changed the outside to this…

This home was my Victorian era style.

We sold this house and moved on to here…

Now we did change the look of it some though.

We put on a new darker roof and changed all the trim and windows out to tan with green shutters.

I cant believe I don't have any photos of it all done!

But to give you an idea of the color scheme, here is one photo of Kelsey out on the front porch.

She had some type of thing going on at school that day.

She was dress in some of my mothers collection of Victorian era clothing.

*Notice the tan brown trim and hunter green accents.*

I also don’t have many photos of the inside.

I think why was…

This was the start of the computer generation, well, at least in our house.

We started taking all our pictures with digital cameras, didn't save them to anywhere, computers crashed and everything was lost.

I did find a few, not the best quality but they will have to do.

Above photo shows from the foyer, thru the living room, into the sun room.

Yes, I was still in my Victorian decorating style.

We left there and we built the home we are in now.

This home has seen quite a bit of changes over the past ten years.

I made a post about it awhile back.

To look back over the last 9 to 10 years here, you can CLICK HERE to pop over and view that post.

So, now we are home (for now)…

I also think over the last few years, I have found my decorating style.

As much as I do enjoy my current style, something I have realized is, my tastes are constantly changing.

Or I just get bored and seem to move on.

I honestly don't see that happening with this current style.

I would say, out of all of them, this is the most me.

But who knows, 10 years from now I could be looking back at these and noticing how much I have changed.

I guess only time will tell.

Thanks so much for stopping by and letting me guide you through the past 28 years of my life. :)

Until Next Time…

Take Care and Talk Soon,

zTam

That was fun seeing all the different decorating you did. Isn't it funny how are tastes change over the years. I'm like you though, I feel like I've finally arrived at my true decorating style and I don't see me ever changing.

The great old country blue and mauve stage that thank goodness we all moved beyond. And the cows were so plentiful in my kitchen that you'd have thought we owned a dairy farm. LOL

I skipped the Victorian stage but shabby chic almost got me! Then I realized that I liked the shabby furniture not the flowers and my love for prim took over.

I can't wait to get home next week do I can look at all my decor changes over the years. Oh yea and the 4 state journey thru all those changes.

OMGosh, we had a lot in common... lol. When we were young :) I had the dusty rose drapes and teddy bears too. Oh, and the little ones running around too. We had a house fire and lost everything and a computer crash losing photos too. Thanks for sharing with us :)

Isn't it fun to look back at previous styles and see how we've evolved? I saw lots of photos that could have been mine! I'm sure 10 years from now I'll look at my style now and say, "What was I thinking?" lol
