Still A Work In Progress But…

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Hello Everyone.

I’m still working on tweaking my kitchen.

I’m  in the mood to change it up.

Mainly I wanting to add more of a “Farmhouse” appearance to it.

It is definitely still a work in progress.

I do have a few more things on my to-do list.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

The biggest changes I’ve done so far is repainting my stove board, sink board and couple other pieces an antique white.

I also changed up the displays on top of my cabinets.

And I changed my counter displays, trying to bring more white pieces in.

I am hoping to repaint my cabinets.

I don't dislike the current color, well, I don't hate it.

But over time the color of them has changed somewhat.

Originally they were more of a white-wash color, but now that I am adding more white in here, they are appearing “pinkish”.

To be honest, I am a little scared to attempt to paint them.

I’m afraid it is going to be a huge, messy, task and I’m not sure I’m up for that!

Another project I have planned is to hang a shelf above the window.

This shouldn't be too hard.

So hopefully some time this week I can get that done.

I would also like to change the curtains to ones like the dining room.

They are an off white linen, and I think that would look better than the brown.

Hopefully, one day.

I also did a little tweaking to the breakfast nook.

By a little I mean, I painted the shelf an off-white and changed the cupboard display.

I am planning on repainting the fireplace the same shade of grey I used on the dining room cupboard.

Think that may go better than the mustard yellow.

One thing about it, it is only paint!

If I hate it I can always paint it back to the yellow.

Lately, I have been in the mood for change!!

I had gotten in such a rut for way too long.

Feels good to just be working on something.

It is a game of hit and miss at times.

But oh well, still having fun playing.

I have had a couple of emails and comments asking about the house situation.

And I guess the answer to that is also the answer to why I have suddenly had a bunch of energy for change.

As of right now, Hubby and I have decided to take it off the market and stay.

So this has taken a Ton of pressure off of me.

For now, we feel like it is the right decision.

And after many prayers trying to decide what to do,  I am at peace with this decision.

We may eventually decide to sell it and downsize, but for now we are staying home.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit.

Until next time…

Take Care and talk soon,

zTam

Hi Tammy - Everything looks great! I too have been changing things up to a "lighter" look. It is refreshing isn't it!

I know you are glad about your decision to stay. A house on the market is very stressful. After this round, there will be no more listing.

I will be watching for more pics from your place!

Tammy, I really love your kitchen. It is so warm and inviting, and looks like a great place to cook up a family meal. The cupboards with breadboard inserts are wonderful!
Doesn't it feel good to make a decision so that you don't have to dwell on it anymore? I think making a big decision can be so difficult.

Love your kitchen ..it would fit me to a T and really like the way you pulled your curtains back.
Hurry over to my blog and leave a comment to be entered in my give away. If I don't get a lot then they won't offer me any more cool give aways :(
I think this is a good one.
I would not be sure either about painting the cabinets and Yes..it is a LOT of work. Keep us posted on your progress :)

Everything looks great! We are redoing our kitchen right now. I wanted a change too. We had our cabinets painted black. Everyone laughed and made fun of me, but I LOVE how they turned out. Will be sharing on my blog soon. Go for it!

Hi Tam, I am liking what I see. I love how the kitchen turned out and your stoveboard and sink board came out great. I love the white pieces you have brought in. I am loving the "FARMHOUSE" look.
All I can say is when I grow up I want to be just like you, LOL! HEHEHE!

You really know how to decorate in every style. You need to become a decorator and get paid for it.
I love your homestead and the way you deocrate is so cozy and inviting.
I am SO HAPPY that you and hubby are staying where you are now. It does take alot of stress off. When the time is right to sell you both will know it.
Keep deocrating girlie, I can't wait for the next blog post!
Big Huge Hugs to my friend,

Hi Tam - Love your kitchen. I can see what you mean about the cupboard appearing a little off in color, but I'm sure you will take care of that!
Glad you are less stressed for now..it IS a lovely home.

I love the look of your kitchen! I'm going for a more "rustic simplicity" than prim in my home these days and all of the white colors in your kitchen go together so well. It's easy on the eyes. :) Maybe a wash of a stain on your cabinets will give an old farmhouse feel to your cabinets and tone down the pinkish color you are seeing. I would be afraid to paint them too. :)

I think your place is great! I have so much clutter in my kitchen! I miss my old house form years ago that had a beautiful formal dining room. My kids have so many wonderful memories of it. Glad I am here catching up with you!
