Okay, The Joke’s Over – Now Give Me Back Southern IL Weather! (Plus A Chair Redo)

APP ~Tammy

Someone give me a baseball bat and point me in the direction on Jack Frost!

No, I’m not prone to violence, but sometime one can be pushed too far.

And I think Old Man Winter has just about pushed me to my limit.

This is NOT Southern Illinois weather.

Look at what we woke up to this morning….

APP ~Tammy

I guess I shouldn't complain too much, my sister in St. Peters, MO. got 10”.

Who am I kidding, yes, I should complain.

Any snow in March, is too much! :|

I went through my previous previous blog posts and look at my post from a year ago today….

APP ~Tammy

It was so nice outside that my snowball bush was fully in bloom and I had went out and cut a bunch of them for my baskets.

Look out the window at the GREEN!!!

I want that!

I need that!!

I am starting to agree with my daughter, I don't think winter is ever going to end.

Well, that's enough of my weather rant for the day.

I thought I would also share a chair I redo I did yesterday.

To be honest, I have never recovered a piece of furniture before.

I’m sure I didn't do it correctly, but it turned out looking pretty good to me.

All I did was remove the seat from the chair.

Removed the top layer of fabric and sat it on a piece of fabric to make sure I cut a large enough piece.

APP ~Tammy

Then sat the cushion down on the fabric.

(I may be crazy but I love that old green fabric that was under there.  Wish it wouldn't have been all torn up!)

APP ~Tammy

I began folding up the sides and stapling them into place.

Newly covered cushion.

APP ~Tammy

I put the chair in my master bath.

APP ~Tammy

You may have noticed, I also repainted my tub board a couple of weeks ago.

APP ~Tammy

No more mustard yellow.  Now it is an antique white.

APP ~Tammy

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos.

The sun was shining in so brightly from the snow, it made the whole room come out looking yellow.

This is why I prefer to take my pictures at night.

Any who!

Here are a few more shots of the space.

Just What I Wanted ~ Thanks Mom!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I have been wanting an old window frame to go above my cupboard in the breakfast nook.

Well, Mom and Dad went to Nashville flea market yesterday and look what she surprised me with today!

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Exactly what I wanted!!

It doesn't have any glass, but I don't care.

It made it easier to hang.

Wonderful creamy white chippy paint.

You cant really see it in photos, but its there.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Thanks so much, Mommy!

It looks just like I wanted it to.

What A Difference A Week Makes…

APP ~Tammy

Well, Life threw us another curve ball this week!

I’m not going to go into the details about it right now.

Mainly because I don’t feel like thinking about it and secondly because who cares.

Life is what it is.

It did however push me to the point where I said, Enough is Enough!

I’m Done!

So, I called a realtor friend of mine and as of Thursday there is a sign in my front yard.

I’m not going to obsess about it this time though.

I’m truthfully not.

Last time it consumed pretty much all of my life.

I’m keeping in OCD in check this time!! :)

I’m not going to post about viewings.

I’m not going to post about houses we view.

Not because I don’t want to share, it is because I don’t want that to be what my life is about.

APP ~Tammy

Last time, I was like some crazy woman!!

I seriously couldn't think about anything else.

This time, I’m just going to carry on with my life like normal.

Well, as normal as it can be.

When it sells, it sells.

I am not even going to worry about about buying another one.

We did that last time and we would find ones we wanted, only to watch them sell before we were able to buy.

So, no more of that.

I told Brett, we are going to find some place to rent for 6 month to a year.

Let our emotions settle, before starting on looking for another home.

I don't want to rush into something, because of the feeling “we have to find something”.

I’ll let you all know if or when it’s sold, but other than that I don't think I’ll say much about it.

I don't want this to turn into a stressful place.

Where all I talk about is the woes of this house.

I feel like it got that way last time.

My life is much more than that.

And to be honest…

Who Cares!

I have stressed over this silly house for years.

I’m done.

Time to move on to the next chapter in my life.

And the way I see it, The Sooner The Better.

*I will, however, happily accept any prayers you all want to send our way.

I can definitely always use those. :)

Now onto better things…

Last week I was able to get the first of my 2013 Pay It Forward packages mailed out.

Tiff @ Folded Gingham was the first to sign up, so I sent her package out first.

She made a blog post yesterday sharing what I sent.

So, now I can share her gift with all of you.

I sent her one of my burlap teddy bears.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Tiff, I am so glad you and Mason liked Miss Teddy. :)

Thanks so much for joining in on the PIF.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

One last thing before heading off to start lunch.

Remember the shelf in the dining room that I said needed to be lighter?

Well, I decided to change it to the gray color that I painted the cupboard.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I also changed the display above it.

The box I had up there was way too big.

I think this sampler fits the space better.

Try to ignore the smudged light switch cover.

Stupid brass.

These were on my list to change out, guess I wont have to fool with that now. ;)

Well, That’s it for me today.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit with me.

Galvanized Bucket And Dried Hydrangeas – Much Better!

APP ~Tammy

Hello All!

I finally figured out something to put on my scale.

I didn't like how bare the single firkin looked up there.

To me, this looks much better.

APP ~Tammy

Yesterday I noticed Brett's buckets outside on the deck.

These are what he uses for empting the fireplace.

I saw them and and thought…

“He doesn't need two of those.  I wonder if one would fit up on my scale?”

So in it came and Yep, fit great.

Of course, when I came inside with it Hubs looks at me odd and asks,

“What are you doing with that?”

I point at the scale and say, “I’m going to put flowers in it and sit it up there.”

To that, I received the infamous eye roll and “whatever” reply.

As I pranced over to the scale excited about my find.

APP ~Tammy

Can someone tell me, how can he not be excited about this??

It’s Free, Fits and Looks just the way I wanted it to.

If that’s not exciting then I don’t know what is. :) Heehee!

Bead Board And A Lot Of Painting – New Lighter Kitchen Look! – Picture Overload (Again!)

APP ~Tammy

 Hello Everyone!

Well, This week-end project turned into a week-long project.

Have I mentioned, I Hate To Paint!

Well, If I didn't before, I sure do now!

APP ~Tammy

My original plan was to add bead board to the underneath of the cabinets for a back splash.

But you know me, unable to just let things be, I then decided the walls needed to be lighter to tie everything in.

APP ~Tammy

After I finished that, Once again, I sat back for a second and thought….

The mud room is too dark.

So, I reluctantly decided to keep going through the doorway and lighten that too.

APP ~Tammy

To be honest, the mud room really needed the lighter paint.

APP ~Tammy

There aren't any windows in there so yes, it is a very dark space.

The white paint did help a bit.

APP ~Tammy

Above: *Try to ignore my overloaded fridge. :)

APP ~Tammy

APP ~Tammy

It is difficult to tell in these photos but the wallpaper in here has the appearance of old blue ticking.

APP ~Tammy

Okay, back to the kitchen….

I knew I couldn't handle trying to install actual wood bead board by myself, so I used the next best thing.

Bead board wallpaper!!

APP ~Tammy

Purchased from Lowes $19.99 a roll.

Added bonus, It is paintable paper so you can make it any shade you wish.

It took approx. a half of a roll for everything I did.

APP ~Tammy

Then to finish off the effect and make it look even more like the “real thing”, I added wood trim.

You seriously cant tell it isn't wooden bead board, unless you touch it.

APP ~Tammy

For the walls I used Martha Stewart “Pebble” shade of paint.

The Pebble shade seems to change appearance according to the light outside.

Sometimes it appears white, then sometimes it appears almost the same shade as the cabinets, and lastly at night it appears, my favorite shade, a grayish white.

It is seriously the craziest thing!

I’ve never had a paint appear so differently depending on the time of day.

For the bead board and trim I used Martha Stewart “Talc” shade.

Both in flat finish.

APP ~Tammy

Did you notice the little sign I made for myself??

APP ~Tammy

I think it looks pretty good above my prim peg rack.

APP ~Tammy

APP ~Tammy

Check this out…

Remember how I put that white stain over the cupboard my mom made?

Well, I decided I wanted to try to lighten some more.

When I added paint on top of it look what happened!!

APP ~Tammy

It gave it a crackle type effect.

How awesome is that!

APP ~Tammy

Nope, it doesn’t take much to excite me these days.

APP ~Tammy

I have to go get more of that stain just so I can get the look again on something else. :)

APP ~Tammy

APP ~Tammy

I changed the display on the shelf above my fireplace a bit.

APP ~Tammy

APP ~Tammy

Nothing new in this next photo, I just liked the way it looked. ;)

APP ~Tammy

Lets see, what else did I do??

APP ~Tammy

Oh, I moved the chairs from the island and replaced them with a long bench.

APP ~Tammy

APP ~Tammy

More seating and it takes up less space!

APP ~Tammy

I also added some bead board to the end of the cabinet.

I think this space needs a towel or peg rack.

Wonder what Hubby would think about hanging something on the cabinets??

Maybe I shouldn’t ask first!  :)

APP ~Tammy

I do believe that is all of the changes I made.

I would like to change out the light fixtures.

I know the style I want, I just haven't found them yet.

I know I have went photo crazy in this post, but before signing off let me share some random ones with you…
