Well, This week-end project turned into a week-long project.
Have I mentioned, I Hate To Paint!
Well, If I didn't before, I sure do now!
My original plan was to add bead board to the underneath of the cabinets for a back splash.
But you know me, unable to just let things be, I then decided the walls needed to be lighter to tie everything in.
After I finished that, Once again, I sat back for a second and thought….
The mud room is too dark.
So, I reluctantly decided to keep going through the doorway and lighten that too.
To be honest, the mud room really needed the lighter paint.
There aren't any windows in there so yes, it is a very dark space.
The white paint did help a bit.
Above: *Try to ignore my overloaded fridge. :)
It is difficult to tell in these photos but the wallpaper in here has the appearance of old blue ticking.
Okay, back to the kitchen….
I knew I couldn't handle trying to install actual wood bead board by myself, so I used the next best thing.
Bead board wallpaper!!
Purchased from Lowes $19.99 a roll.
Added bonus, It is paintable paper so you can make it any shade you wish.
It took approx. a half of a roll for everything I did.
Then to finish off the effect and make it look even more like the “real thing”, I added wood trim.
You seriously cant tell it isn't wooden bead board, unless you touch it.
For the walls I used Martha Stewart “Pebble” shade of paint.
The Pebble shade seems to change appearance according to the light outside.
Sometimes it appears white, then sometimes it appears almost the same shade as the cabinets, and lastly at night it appears, my favorite shade, a grayish white.
It is seriously the craziest thing!
I’ve never had a paint appear so differently depending on the time of day.
For the bead board and trim I used Martha Stewart “Talc” shade.
Both in flat finish.
Did you notice the little sign I made for myself??
I think it looks pretty good above my prim peg rack.
Check this out…
Remember how I put that white stain over the cupboard my mom made?
Well, I decided I wanted to try to lighten some more.
When I added paint on top of it look what happened!!
It gave it a crackle type effect.
How awesome is that!
Nope, it doesn’t take much to excite me these days.
I have to go get more of that stain just so I can get the look again on something else. :)
I changed the display on the shelf above my fireplace a bit.
Nothing new in this next photo, I just liked the way it looked. ;)
Lets see, what else did I do??
Oh, I moved the chairs from the island and replaced them with a long bench.
More seating and it takes up less space!
I also added some bead board to the end of the cabinet.
I think this space needs a towel or peg rack.
Wonder what Hubby would think about hanging something on the cabinets??
Maybe I shouldn’t ask first! :)
I do believe that is all of the changes I made.
I would like to change out the light fixtures.
I know the style I want, I just haven't found them yet.
I know I have went photo crazy in this post, but before signing off let me share some random ones with you…
I love this next photo, for some reason. :)

Hope you enjoyed the tour.
