Enjoying the Warmer Temperatures

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Praise God!

The warmer temps have finally arrived here in Southern Illinois.

It was a beautiful weekend and we spent most of it outside.

I was even happy to mow! :)

A Couple of weeks ago, I was able to pick up the new screen door I have wanted for my front door forever.

It was finally nice enough this weekend to get to enjoy it!

The yard is still a little spotty, the trees and bushes still aren't fully bloomed but…

Everything is Finally starting to come Alive again and I love it!

Here is a question for all of you…

I cant decide whether to paint the side panels white or leave them blue like the shutters and front door.

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

I would love to hear your opinion.

Side panels white or leave them blue??

I also did a little decorating to the front of my garage.

I decided to make a little wreath for the front window.

It really needs to be a little larger but I just used what I had on hand.

I had a small grape vine wreath and a berry garland stuck up not being used for anything.

Then last night I got an idea to try to turn them into a wreath.

Here is how it tuned out…

Kinda cute and you beat Free!

I have some of the excess berries strung across the front of the flower box, but I’m not sure I like it.

You cant really tell what they are and from a distance, to me, they look like dead flowers from last year.

So, they may go.

I also have plans to hang some simple curtains up at the window.

Just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Right now I am hoping the rain they are predicting for this week passes us by and that the warm temps continue.

I need to get outside and freshen up the paint on my porch.

Fingers Crossed!

I wanted to shout out a praise for one of my favorite shows on television.

I have watched it literally my entire life.

April 1st was General Hospital’s 50th Anniversary!!!

Let me tell you, it is only getting better.

They have new PTB’s and the show is getting back to what is used to be.

The past few weeks have been Fabulous!

The return of so many veteran actors.

Character based story lines, that are including All characters, not just a select few.

The return of The Q’s!

(Well, the ones that are left standing after the last writer tried to destroy them.)

And last Friday thru tomorrow, The Nurses Ball!!

APP ~Tammy

It’s, oh so fabulous, return after 10 years.

I know, I am gushing on like a crazy person, but I had to shout out a WooHoo for the return of writing this show deserves.

And Congratulations to GH for 50 years.

Thanks for the memories!!!

Also any Herrinites who might read this post….

Tomorrow is Election Day.

Time to elect a new Mayor.

Be sure to get out an vote.

As some of you may know, my Sister In Law is running for Mayor.

We sure would appreciate your vote.

Monica Young For Mayor

OOh..I can't wait til we have leaves and green grass. It is finally getting warmer, so it won't be long now.
I am on the fence about painting the side windows white...but I think it may look better if you did...IMHO!
Enjoy working outside!

I'm on the fence too.
I think the solid white would look good but also at the same time the blue on the sides gives. It almost a shutter like appearance to the door.
Does that make sense??
Oh I can't decide!!!

Hi Tammy!! I would keep the sides blue... I like the way it frames the white door.... The screen door looks fabulous! Good luck with your decision!! :)
The wreath you made is great!! And the best of luck to your SIL on her run for mayor!!

Hi Tammy! Glad to hear your temps are warming up:) I'm on the fence about the side panels as well. On our old house we stained the front door a cherry red and did the side panels as well, it looked really maybe white would be nice.
Love the wreath, it's always nice to use what you have on hand. Not crazy about the extra berries in the box though, they do kind of look like last years!
Best of luck to your Sister-in-law!!
Take care,

Your home is looking so nice. Isn't it nice how something new will perk things up so?! Glad to hear you are finally getting some spring weather. It sure puts a "spring" in your step.
I love the new door, I would keep the sides blue. And for the window box, it did look like dead flowers at first.
Good luck to you sil.

I LOVE your new screen door!! The blue on the sides do look like shutters and is pretty. Painting them white would make your door really stand out and look grand. I think I may go for grand with your gorgeous porch.
Good luck to your SIL!!

You have a beautiful home! I vote for white. It would make the front seem bigger and more inviting.
Good luck to your sis-in-law.

Well, I like the door ... I should ...I've had it on my house for over a year now.
But, if it were me, I would paint the sides white, to make it look like a bigger entryway.
Just me, but I really dislike colors that date a room or house ...
When I looked at the photo, I see that up on the second floor you have no blue shutters ... looks nice, I would try to take some of the blue away from the bottom, that way it looks more consistent. Not like you couldn't fit them on the top so you put them all on the bottom. If you painted the sides white, the blue would then be not so pronounced, more of an accent color.
Nice to get opinions, but in the end ... it's the curb appeal your after and all your decision.
Good luck.

Hi Teri,
Wonderful explanation.
Went back and looked, you're right.
Never noticed that.
Thanks for your comment.

HI there, I say paint them white. Now I am no designer, but to me if you are thinking about doing it there must be a reason.:) Go for it.!

Hi Tammy,
I love the door and I for one say leave the side panels as they are...this makes the door stand out and show the beautiful design.

Such a pretty wreath! I love the window box too...I want them!

The front of your home is so pretty. I love good looking screen doors and think adding white paint to the sides of it would look nice. Of course, that's my opinion cause I'm not the one having to do the work. :)
