It sure has been a hectic last couple of weeks.
With the school year winding down, work stuff on overload, doing some tweaking and changing around here, and trying to clear out this house as much as possible, I have barely had time to breath!
Now that Prom has past and graduation is only a couple of weeks away, hopefully soon life will calm down.
I have been having fun on the weekends though.
Yard Sale season has begun here in Southern Illinois and I have been lucky enough to come across some wonderful goodies.
Here are some photos of what I came across…
Not last Friday, but the one before that, I was little late getting started.
I only made it to one sale and could've kicked myself.
There is no telling what I missed out on.
Oh well, I will just be grateful for what I did get.
An old spinning wheel.
This was Filthy when I bought it.
Covered in dead spiders and mud dauber mounds.
But once I got it cleaned up, Wow, what pretty wood.
Yes, it needs put together, which is turning out to be harder than it sounds or what I originally thought.
Not really sure I will ever be able to figure it out, but also not ready to give up on the challenge quite yet. :)
An old yarn winder.
I believe it may be a prim homemade item.
Or maybe not.
Either way, I love it!
The little wooden winders do have damage. but I didn't care, it had to come home with me.
The base is metal and the whole winder has a fabulous old patina to it.
I also picked up the old sewing basket and whisk broom at the same sale.
THIS is my type of Yard Sale!
Now I bet you understand why I wanted to Kick myself for not getting there sooner.
The next day, wasn't as great, but I did manage to find something's I needed to bring home with me.
Two old blue Ball jars, some old white ironstone, two tiny Santa mugs, a pair of old scissors, and a vintage framed print.
I put my white pieces in the breakfast nook cupboard.
I’m actually starting to get a pretty good collection going.
This past Friday I went to one group of sales that was called a neighborhood sale.
Wish I would've had more time, but unfortunately, I got called out to work.
Here is what I did find…
A small lot of true old doll clothes.
Check out the early blue and maroon calico fabric.
An old small child's toy ironing board.
Yellow coverlet tablecloth with matching napkins, for resale.
A vintage crock.
Which I am going to try to clean the painting off of.
A vintage bed tray.
And lastly, this huge, homemade curtain.
You cant tell in the photo because I have it folded but it is enormous and very heavy.
I cant imagine the window this was made for!
It is pretty but I don't have anywhere for it, so I mainly bought it for the fabric.
I wasn’t able to go YS this past Saturday because of Prom.
It was a wet, cold, and icky day, so hopefully there weren't many.
As for the projects I have been working on around here.
First off, I painted my kitchen back to the light brown, like the rest of the house.
I truly love seeing rooms with the white on white on white, but I can not get it to look right in my house.
Maybe I just haven't found the right shade of white for me yet.
Whatever the reason, for now, I decided to put it back to the shade it was.
I did leave the bead board backsplash white.
Which actually shows up better with the warmer walls.
Now if Hubby would just let me fix the darn cabinets! :)
Another project I have been working on is my bedroom.
I switched curtains with the dining room to lighten it up in here.
I also painted my bed and wall shelf an antique white.
I removed all my Americana decor and replaced it with more farmhouse type items.
I removed my Abe and George framed prints from the side of the bed and replaced them with two of my old mirrors.
I did leave my fireplace red, simply because I like it that shade. :)
I moved in my box of old teddy bears from the living room.
I also hung the wreath that I made a few weeks ago.
I took out the dresser I had in here.
I replaced it with only of my tall cabinets from the living room.
I am really liking the lighter look in here.
Much more relaxing now.
Oh, I almost forgot!
I removed the brown long pillow case and made one in white for the bed.
I also removed the other throw pillows and replaced them with a large feed sack pillow I made awhile back.
I also have changes to share of the living room, dining room, and family room but those will have to wait for a later post.
I still need to finish up a few more things in those rooms.
Now, it is time to go figure out what to make for supper and hopefully sit down and do nothing the rest of the night.
Wish me luck! :)
Thank you so much for stopping by to visit with me!
Until next time….
Take Care and Blessings To You All,
