New Lighter Look In Dining Room

APP ~Tammy

Yes, I know, I have been in a painting and tweaking frenzy lately.

I’m like that.

I’ll get the mood to do something and I’ll go, go, go, until the mood passes then I may not touch it again for months.

Hummm, maybe this is why I have so many half done projects!

Mood passed before I could get them finished.

Any way, for now, I’m just having fun.

Here is my latest finished, for now, project.

The dining room.

I painted the two end chairs white.

I also switched out the corner cabinet with the one I had in the living and painted it white.

The one I did have in here was old, so I decided to keep it as is.

I think the paint on the corner cabinet turned out pretty good.

I just went over it lightly with the white paint.

I wanted it to look old and worn, so I let some of the red under paint show through.

I wish I wouldn’t have sold off most of my grey graniteware.

Now I need to keep eye out for more. :)

I’m still loving the look of the quilt on the table.

Here’s a question…

Should I keep the four ladder back chairs the barn red to match the quilt or change them to the aged white two match the other two chairs?

I won’t say it is finished, because let’s face it, Is a room Ever actually Finished??

But I guess, it is done for now.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

One More Nook Update

A Primitive Place ~ Tammy

Last night I decided to do a little more tweaking to the breakfast nook.

I did a little changing inside the cabinet and above.

Here are a bunch of photos.

Yes, I admit it, I got a bit carried away with the camera. ;)

I think the lamp looks much better now that I painted it and changed the shade.

Breakfast Nook Update

APP ~Tammy

Well, The painting and tweaking continues.

Today I have been working on more changes in the dining room.

I’m not ready to share those changes yet, but I have pretty much finished the breakfast nook.

APP ~Tammy

I repainted the fireplace a light grey.

APP ~Tammy

I like it okay.

The paint has a little more of a worn appearance than what is showing up in the photos.

I also decided to paint the table.

Originally it was stained and did appear to be original to the table.

Which I admit, gave me pause before doing it.

I have this thing about painting over old original finishes.

I don’t like to do it at all.

But this space needed the table to be lighter.

The table was too dark for the look I was wanting.

So, I took a deep breath and went to work painting over it.

For the top I used an old plain burlap sack and antique basket.

I really like the simplicity of that.

I changed out the display in the corner.

I put my ladder and old quilt there and to add in a little white I also placed an old feed sack.

I don’t really care for the crock I have sitting on the hanging scale.

I’m going to have to keep an eye out for something else to go there.

I also did a little changing to the inside of the cabinet.

APP ~Tammy

Across the back of the top shelf, I hung a couple of white feed sacks to try to lighten it up in there.

Then I decided to add in some white ironstone pieces and my Pig Cookie Jar and S&P shakers.

I think I need to paint over the lamp and change out the light shade.

To be honest, I had never noticed that needed to be done until I see these photos.

For some reason the song from Sesame Street comes to mind…

“Which one of these things are not like the others?  Which one of these things doesn’t belong?”

:)

I would love to hear any suggestions you may have to add in more of the “Farmhouse” feel.

It hard to sometimes to see changes that need to be done when it is your own house.

Just like the lamp…

When you see something everyday, you stop seeing it.

Does that make any sense?

Any way, suggestions and comments are always Welcome.
